June is Pride Month! Pride month is about acceptance, equality, celebrating the work of LGBTQ+ people, education in LGBTQ+ history and raising awareness of issues affecting the LGBTQ+ community.
One Beyond is proud to be an LGBTQ+ inclusive employer and workplace. One of our core values is ‘Giving our very best with fun and pride’ and this is something that is very important to us, as we believe that people accomplish more when they can be their true selves.
Throughout the month, here at One Beyond we have been reflecting on equality and diversity. We asked our employees the question: “What does Pride mean to you?”
“For me, Pride is all about celebrating and being proud of our differences, and recognising that with a broad range of backgrounds and experiences we are collectively stronger. It’s amazing to already see this within our company and I really want to foster an environment where this can continue to grow. I’m personally committed to ensuring that everyone in this business has a voice and will be heard in the workplace, regardless of age, gender, background, race or sexual orientation. Pride month is a great opportunity to reflect on this and I’ve really enjoyed some of the conversations I’ve had with colleagues and friends both inside and out of work – it’s great for us to take the time to be curious and learn from the experiences of others and convert these in to committed action for positive change.”
Sophie Bruce, Operations Director
“As a queer person, I can proudly say that I feel comfortable and accepted working at One Beyond. I have never hidden my gay identity from my colleagues, because I know I am surrounded by open minded and loving people here. And also, diversity and acceptance are part of One Beyond’ culture. I’m proud of who I am. I want to be seen; I need to be seen. I believe when more and more queer people are coming out of the closet, eventually the closet will disappear.”
Lucas Jin, Developer
“Pride is about accepting ourselves and our differences, of self-love, of being able to express ourselves freely and without fear of being persecuted or singled out. Of fighting for equality in human and civil rights where segregation by sexual orientation continues to exist. Pride is about love for yourself first but also about freedom to be yourself.”
Teresita Cerdeira, Presales Architect
“The One Beyond team is made up of people from diverse backgrounds, ideas and points of view. I feel that we take pride in being ourselves by speaking loudly on who we are and offering a diversity of perspectives that make us an innovative and unique team.”
Marina Dávila, Tech Acquisition
“As long as there is even a single person in the world whose fundamental rights are being violated by something as banal as their sexual orientation, the rest of us human beings have the obligation to continue generating visibility on this. In many societies, progress has been made that many believed impossible, and the ideal would be for further progress to continue in all corners of the world.”
Daniel Colás, Developer
“Diversity is unique, fundamental and precious. It’s what makes any environment a better place to be. This is what we are and what we want to continue being. We believe in being a company where opportunities are given to all, where talent is not related to age, race, sexual orientation, job title or gender. We all matter, and we all make this place a great place to work.”
